TLR® driver,
Dakotah Phend, can now add the title of “Reedy International Off-Road Race
Champion” to his already unbelievable resume. The Reedy Race is arguably one of
the most prestigious events in the racing world and is not won on pure talent
alone. It takes patience, preparation, luck, consistency and the best equipment
possible to get the job done. Phend quietly worked his way up through the
standings, staying under everyone’s radar until he was at the top of the leader
board. The equipment he used to achieve this stunning victory included: TLR 22™
3.0 and 22-4™ buggies, the Spektrum™ DX4R PRO radio, Spektrum S6240 servos, a
Team Orion R10.1 2S ESC, a Vortex VST2 PRO 5.5t motor and Carbon 4500mAh Ultra
Shorty LiPos.
It was an
impressive showing for the rest of the TLR crew as well. During the 2WD
segment, Dustin Evans was virtually untouchable and headed into the 4WD segment
as the man to beat. Once the 4WD segment was underway, Evans’ TLR teammate,
Ryan Maifield, took over the points lead and appeared to be headed for his
first back-to-back Reedy Race win. Luck played a hand, however, and Maifield
had to settle for 2nd place behind Phend, netting TLR a
one-two finish.
Finally, for
all you number guys out there, think about this…
Phend just
signed a 2-year contract extension 2 weeks ago. This was the 22nd
running of the Reedy Race. A 22 and 22-4 won the race (2+2=4). TLR drivers finished
in the top 2 spots. And TLR has now won the Reedy Race 2 years in a row. Just
saying…
