22nd Annual Columbus Midwest Electric Winter Championship
The 22nd Annual Columbus Midwest Electric Winter Championship was held at CRCRC in Columbus, OH. The large indoor track was comprised of packed clay and featured technical jumps and low speed sections.
As track conditions went from extremely high bite to dusty low traction many racers struggled to make the correct tire choice before qualifying. The consensus was that Losi Pink compound Bk-Bar and Taper Pin tires were the best pick.
After qualifying Team Losi Racing drivers were able to occupy 11 spots in the Modified Truck, Modified 2wd, and Modified 4wd categories. Losi drivers Dustin Evans, Matt Chambers and Matt Lee equipped their vehicles with Xcelorin Brushless Systems. Losi driver Dakotah Phend put on a show in the twenty minute Outlaw Truck A-main to take the win in front of hundreds of screaming spectators.

Team Losi Racing L8IGHT Model Hot at The Chili Bowl
The new Team Losi Racing L8IGHT Model, nitro late model oval race roller, debuted with a bang at the 2009 Chili Bowl Jr. in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This mid-winter RC race is run in conjunction with the largest and most prestigious full-scale oval race and drew almost 200 RC entries from around the country.
Although the L8IGHT Model was released only a month ago there were many new owners and eager racers waiting to see it in action. The L8IGHT Model did not disappoint as Lars Johnson from Colorado led the pack from the start of practice until the main event. Lars and fellow L8IGHT Model drivers Lee Morrison, Doug Gaut, and Jeff Harper consistently turned the fastest lap times during practice in the largest class at this event. Lars, who was using Spektrum’s DX3R radio, continued with this pace throughout qualifying taking the top qualifying spot.
The A-Main saw 6 of the 8 finalists driving the Team Losi Racing L8IGHT Model. Although Lars jumped out to the lead with blistering lap times that were the quickest of the weekend, his fellow L8IGHT Model drivers were right behind putting on a great show for the crowd. Unfortunately Lars experienced a issue which allowed fellow Losi drivers Lee Morrison and Doug Gaut to battle for the win. Doug came back from a tangle to take the win – the first for the production L8IGHT Model Race Roller.
Congratulations go out to the organizers for a great event the all the racers for putting on an exceptional show.

Ryan Villopoto Races Losi
Kawasaki's Supercross and Motocross driver Ryan Villopoto spends quite a bit of time at the track. It's not surprising that even when he's not racing Supercross or Motocross, Ryan still spends much of his time around a dirt track. A dirt off-road RC track, that is.
When Losi recently discovered that Ryan enjoys racing 1/8-scale off-road vehicles at his local RC track, Losi driver Adam Drake presented him with a custom-built Team Losi Racing 8IGHT-T Truggy.
